Emma has always held a strong interest in healthy living and good diet practices. She found that there were many mixed messages being put out in the media which were confusing people seeking good nutritional advice. This fuelled her desire to become an expert in this field and she followed the path to become an Accredited Practicing Dietitian.
Emma studied Nutrition and Dietetics at Flinders University – starting later in life at 43 years old.
Prior to this she had worked in International Sales and Marketing, and in recent years as a Swimming Instructor and Supervisor at a swim school in Mount Barker. Her past roles within both corporate and recreation/training environments, plus the experience of raising her own family, have provided Emma with an ability to easily connect and empathise with people from all walks of life.
Emma’s philosophy is that eating healthily need not be complicated and certainly should not involve lots of fancy and expensive ingredients. With a husband and two children, Emma is a big advocate for quick, easy and healthy meals that fit around a busy family and working life.
She has particular interest in working together with clients, using evidence-based interventions that can be tailored specifically to her clients to help solve problems. She has a special interest in fussy eating in children and the use of stretching therapy to expand diet.
Emma is originally from the UK and came to Australia with her young family in 2006. She lives in Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog, experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, and travelling with her family – both around Australia and overseas. In recent years she has enjoyed the amazing holiday experience of travelling around New Zealand in a campervan.
Emma is available for consultations on Mondays and Thursdays.
